It all started from caves to houses! After the hunting era of humans, our ancestors came out of their caves and settled in a house that they built. At that time, they could build houses wherever, and wherever they wanted to. There were no laws.
But this all changed during the medieval times, when land has become a source of wealth and power in history. People stated fighting over land possession. There were no laws about land possession at that time. Kings took over all the land as much as they could, and just assigned tenants to take care of them. The peasants were released from the bondage of the kinds during the Industrial Evolution, and it was only then that peasants and ordinary people could have their own piece of land through buying.
